|Evening gown circa 1935.|
I've been a little lacking in blog posts lately because, joy of joys, I finally found a job. Two, in fact. Which makes me gloriously busy (I have, in the past, been accused of workaholism) but also a little less cash poor. Say it with me: YAY.
That said, I spent a lovely morning off yesterday wandering through the Darnell collection exhibition currently showing at the Newcastle Regional Gallery. A smattering of evening clothes from the 1920s to the 2000's, the exhibition is full of sumptuous gowns. Yes, I was in heaven. And as much as I was in danger of drooling all over some 1930's velvet beauties, it was the floaty, ethereal 70's dress below that had me truly pining:

Look at those sleeves!
The exhibition is on in Newcastle til late November, but they're hosting some events over the next couple of weeks which sound fantastic. I hear that the inimitable Lady Melbourne is giving a talk tomorrow night at 6 pm - exciting! If there's one thing I love, it's listening to people natter about vintage. Duh.
