Buying Yourself Birthday Gifts

Every year, I try to buy myself a birthday present or two. In recent years, when money has been tight, the prospect of gifting myself seems downright extravagant. Lucky me, then, when this year some long-awaited painting sales came through a few days before!

And so, I bought myself two gloriously gaudy, campy things that will give me hours, if not days, of delight:

In case you couldn't tell, I am a huge fan of clashing red and pink! I think it may be years of childhood exposure to those colour-tastic cartoons like Rainbow Brite, Jem and Strawberry Shortcake. As a result, I no longer believe in clashing. Haha.

The dress is 1950's pink organdy, and fits PERFECTLY. I am so, so happy with it. As for the vodka, well, it will be joined in alcoholic matrimony with some ginger syrup and mint.

I just realised that if these two birthday presents were to have a lovechild, it would be in the form of my pink sparkly faux-Cons. Which are, incidentally, pretty much the only pair of sneakers I own!

The colour in these photographs is off - the sneakers and the dress are actually almost identical shades of pink:

That dress is beautiful, I just wish Russian Standard came in a red sequinned bottle! I love the look of it, but I hate Absolut!

That vodka bottle is FANTASTIC. Whoever thought of that has a place reserved for them in heaven. A very, very sparkly heaven.

Vixel - I actually completely agree with you about Absolut - but their marketing strategies are just so GOOD!

Sarah - I KNOW!!! I am ridiculously happy just staring at it.
